  • Undergraduate or graduate degree, preferably in a scientific, technical, or computer science field.
  • Specific experience with LDAP, NIS, NFS, SAMBA, TCP, IP, kernel, and enterprise hardware like SAN and NAS.
  • Candidates who have previously worked in support role are preferred.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Deep understanding of Linux, UNIX, and open source.
  • Ability to convey information concisely and clearly to all levels of clients.
  • Understanding of operating systems, especially Linux, programming languages, and software engineering.
  • Active participation in Linux or UNIX user groups and open source projects is an advantage.
  • Ability to lead small teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Comfortable working in shifts.


Job Description :


The Red Hat Global Support Services (GSS) team is seeking an Associate Support Engineer with outstanding technical and customer service skills to provide support to our enterprise subscription customers. As Red Hat's customer-facing support organization, GSS provides high-quality technical support to Red Hat customers around the globe and across all Red Hat product lines. As an Associate Technical Support Engineer, you'll provide technical support primarily via the web and phone. You will be responsible for performing basic investigation and troubleshooting of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and additional layered products. We'll need you to have exceptional diagnostic capabilities, and an ability to communicate complex information concisely and effectively.

Primary job responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to customers by taking incoming calls and responding to web-based inquiries
  • Investigate and troubleshoot customer issues and provide solutions to problems
  • Exceed customer expectations by providing an outstanding customer experience
  • Develop an understanding of different installation methods, networking, firewall, security, clustering, web servers, and databases
  • Regularly collaborate with in-house support engineers and developers to drive creative solutions and improve customer satisfaction
  • Contribute to global Red Hat knowledge management system while working customer issues
