Responsibilities :

Objective / Purpose:
Incident management is the process which is responsible for managing the lifecycle of all incidents. The main purpose of Incident management is to provide continuity to the customer by restoring normal service operation as quickly as possible in the event of a service disruption or incident and minimise the adverse effect on business operations, thus ensuring that the best possible levels of service quality and availability are maintained. 'Normal service operation' is defined here as service operation within service-level agreement (SLA) limits.

General Responsibilities:

  • The Incident Manager is responsible for the effective implementation of the Incident Management process and carries out the corresponding reporting and represents the first stage of escalation for Incidents, should these not be resolvable within the agreed Service Levels
  • Maintain ownership, monitoring, tracking and communications about incidents
  • Developing a Incident Management process model for the role of Incident Manager.
  • Ensuring the Incident Management process is performed as designed
  • Ensure the goals of the Incident Management process are achieved and fit for purpose


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Understanding of ITIL (Minimal Foundation level or Practitioner Incident desirable) and or COBIT Framework for IT Governance and Control experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of Incident Management concepts, methodologies, best practices, tools and systems
  • Advanced computer hardware and software skills, including Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, project management software, presentation, and & Internet navigation skills.
  • Understanding of Project Management (Prince 2 or PMP certification desirable)
